I took my first hot yoga class in June 2015 in Midtown Detroit. I had a back injury and was diagnosed with degenerative disk disease prior and when my insurance did not cover physical therapy, I tried the 26 and 2 series as a last ditch effort. After the first month, I felt the benefits. I had tried other kinds of yoga over the years, but this practice combined with the heat and the humidity was helping me to move more and be in less pain than I had been in 2 years. In the summer of 2018 I did a 30 day challenge and came to the conclusion that this yoga is my new constant. I also realized that I wanted to be a part of sharing this gift with others. As a social worker, I try to help people with resources to improve their mental, emotional, social and environmental factors of their lives, so it only made sense to bring my work full-circle and be able to help people physically and spiritually as well. I did the Pure Hot Yoga 26 and 2 training in fall 2018 to become certified to teach. I experienced tremendous personal growth in the process. This is a practice that really does integrate mind, body and soul, and I truly look forward to continue to grow and help people as a student and teacher. I am humble and honored to share this practice with you, and I look forward to seeing you in the hot room!
